International StudyTour to Singapore, November 2008

The International Study Tour to Singapore is one the major highlights of the program.

For most students, it was their first international travel, and so the excitement was palpable.

The study tour included an official visit to the Suntec City Mall and interaction with the Mall Management Executives to understand the retailing environment in Singapore.

Following the Mall Tour, the students were divided into groups and asked to conduct a survey of the different business formats at the mall from the large-scale apparel brands to the push-cart systems.

The students interacted with the Asia-Pacific CEO of Polaris, Mr. Supriyo Sircar, who spent more than 3 hours with the students dicussing the impact of the Financial crisis on the South-East Asian economies.  He extended an invitation to the students to network with successful business leaders at the IIT-Alumni conference held at the Shangrilla Hotel.

 The visits to the Jurong Bird Park, the Sentosa Islands, and the spectacular Songs of the Sea lasershow left the students in awe of how toursim can drive a geographically small island country.

International Study Tours will now become a compulsory part of the program for every batch.
